Check It Out Brown Bag Lunch Series

Bring a lunch.        Bring a friend.

An antidote to cabin fever in the colder, snowier months of January and February and the mud season months of March and April is our Friends of Ricker program, Check It Out! These brown bag lunchtime gatherings will feature once-a month programs from 12 noon to 1pm on the third Wednesday of the month, January through April. (Snow date will be, automatically, on the following Wednesday, if the program must be cancelled due to weather.)

Our list of programs is eclectic, with the idea that we can keep our minds active and be introduced to some new things to think about. In January, local sculptor, Gloria Limoges, will tell us about her art of “found object creations”. She is a self-proclaimed “junk collector” who includes various types of materials in her art.

We will have a conversation with Hibo Omar in February. She is a Somali immigrant who lives and works in Lewiston/Auburn and has agreed to talk with us about some of the experiences of the Somali people living in our area. Learn more about this program here.

The program for March will be musical and will be provided by the music department from Poland Regional High School.

Charles Plummer will entertain us with his impersonation of Joshua Chamberlain in April. This program will be our way to participate in recognition of the 150th anniversary of that war.

So mark down these dates: *
January 18, February 15, March 21, and April 18,
And plan to Check It Out! in the Community Room of the library, 12 noon – 1pm.
A prescription to ward off winter “blahs”.

*If you would like to be on our email list and receive a reminder notice just before each program, you may leave your name and email address at the library (998-4390) or join the Friends.
